Current: 2021–22 SWF Championship

The Championship is split into North and South divisions, with one team from each division promoted to SWPL 2.

The inaugural 2020 Season and the subsequent 2020–21 season were both declared null and void by the SWFA due to the coronavirus pandemic.[3][4] This was done to allow the Scottish Women's Football association to focus on preparations for the 2021–22 season instead.

A national Championship division was mooted in 2021.[5]
