Rwanda women's national cricket team

The Rwanda women's national cricket team is the team that represents Rwanda in international women's cricket.

In April 2018, the International Cricket Council (ICC) granted full Women's Twenty20 International (WT20I) status to all its members. Therefore, all Twenty20 matches played between Rwanda women and other ICC members since 1 July 2018 have been full WT20Is.[4][5]

On 26 January 2019, Rwanda played their first WT20I against Nigeria which was first WT20I for Nigeria as well. It was a 5-match WT20I series between these two countries which was won by Nigeria by 3-2.[6]

In December 2020, the ICC announced the qualification pathway for the 2023 ICC Women's T20 World Cup.[7] Rwanda were named in the 2021 ICC Women's T20 World Cup Africa Qualifier regional group, alongside ten other teams.[8]

History

They participated in different African regional games

Out of the 6 awards, they was an award for 100% cricket female participation programme of the year and associate member women's performance of the year[9] which highlighted the development of women’s cricket in Rwanda

in 2018 women's team started the programme in partnership with Cricket builds hope which was reorganized globally

It is a wonderful programme that helps young women that live around the Gahanga Cricket Stadium to attain skills both in leadership and business management.[10]
