Rohit Dhawan

Rohit Dhawan (born 26 December 1983) is an Indian film director and screenwriter who works in Hindi cinema.[1][2]He is the son of Bollywood director David Dhawan and brother of Bollywood actor Varun Dhawan.[3]He made his directorial debut from the film Desi Boyz (2011).[4][5]

Early & Personal Life

Dhawan was born to renowned Bollywood Film Director David Dhawan and his wife Karuna Dhawan on 26 December 1983 in Mumbai, Maharashtra. He has a younger brother Varun Dhawan who is a famous Bollywood actor. Veteran actor Anil Dhawan is his uncle. He has a degree in Filmmaking from New York University. He made his directorial debut with Desi Boyz in 2011. He got married to his longtime girlfriend entrepreneur Jaanvi Desai Dhawan on 10th February 2012 in Goa after dating for 7 years. The couple got blessed with a daughter named Niyara on 30th May 2018 and a son on 4th May 2022.

Career

He made his Bollywood directorial debut in 2011 with romantic comedy film Desi Boyz starring Akshay Kumar, John Abraham, Deepika Padukone and Chitrangada Singh in the lead role and Sanjay Dutt in an extended cameo appearance. This film's story and screenplay was also written by Dhawan. Producer Krishika Lulla produced it. This film received a mixed response from critics and was declared an average at the box office. His second film Dishoom released in 2016. It was also written by him. It was produced by Sajid Nadiadwala under the banner of Nadiadwala Grandson Entertainment. It starred John Abraham, Varun Dhawan, Jacqueline Fernandez in the lead roles while Akshaye Khanna played antagonist. It was commercially successful at the box office, earning more than ₹119 crore worldwide. His upcoming film Shehzada (2022 film) starring Kartik Aaryan, Kriti Sanon, Paresh Rawal & Manisha Koirala will release on 4th November 2022. It is written by Hussain Dalal and produced by Aman Gill, Allu Aravind and Bhushan Kumar. This film is an official Hindi remake of Telugu film Ala Vaikunthapurramuloo starring Allu Arjun & Pooja Hegde. Later, he will direct the official Hindi remake of Sylvester Stallone starrer Hollywood film Rambo starring Tiger Shroff in the lead role. This film will be produced by Siddharth Anand.
