It operates as train number 15119 from Rameswaram to Banaras and as train number 15120 in the reverse direction, serving the states of Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh & Uttar Pradesh.[1]

Coaches

The 15119 / 20 Rameswaram–Banaras Express has one AC 2 tier, Six AC 3 tier, eight Sleeper Class, six General Unreserved & 2 EOG coaches. It doesn't carry a pantry car. Now it had been provided with LHB coaches (Link Hofmann coaches) from 09/09/2018.[2]

Routing

The 15119 / 20 Rameswaram–Banaras Express runs from Rameswaram via Manamadurai Junction, Sivaganga, Devakottai Road, Karaikkudi Junction, Tiruchirappalli Junction, Thanjavur Junction, Kumbakonam, Mayiladuthurai Junction, Sirkazhi, Chidambaram, Viluppuram Junction, Chennai Egmore, Gudur Junction, Vijayawada Junction, Warangal, Ramagundam, Balharshah Junction, Nagpur Junction, Itarsi Junction, Jabalpur Junction, Satna, Katni Junction, Prayagraj Junction to Banaras.

Traction

As large sections of the route are yet to be fully electrified, a Erode-based WDM-3A diesel locomotive powers the train up to Chennai Egmore, then a Itarsi-based WAP-4 electric locomotive pulls the train up to Itarsi Junction, later a Itarsi-based WDM-3A diesel locomotive pulls the train to its destination.
