Ramesh Dahal

Ramesh Dahal (Nepali: रमेश दहाल ) is a Nepali songwriter and lyricist.[1] He was born in 1978 in Mainapokhari, Dolakha.[2][3] He writes songs in various genres including modern, pop, and folk music.[4]

Early life

Ramesh spent his childhood at Charikot, Dolakha. He started writing music as a teenager in 1990, when he was still at school.[5]

In 2000, his first song 'Pheri Timro Samjnale' was recorded. In 2001, ‘Phool Ko Thunga’ on his lyrics recorded in the music compose of late Ram Thapa at Radio Nepal studio.[6]

He has recorded more than 300 songs,[7] and published two collections of his songs.[8] He won a nationwide modern song competition run by Radio Nepal[9][10] in 2009 and again in 2021.[11][12]

Writing

He has published articles about the effect of music and its role in society, in English and Nepali newspapers.[13][6]
