R. Venkatachalam
R Venkatachalam (also known as Colony Venkatachalam) is an Indian politician and former Mayor of Coimbatore Municipal Corporation. He belongs to the Indian National Congress Party as a part of Secular Progressive Alliance led by DMK. He was the mayor of Coimbatore from 2001 to 2006. R. Venkatachalam succeeded Mr. Malaravan, who resigned from mayorship to contest for the Assembly elections in 2006 and he won the election.
