Puthiragoundampalayam Murugan Statue

Muthumalai Murugan Statue at PuthiraGoundamPalayam of Salem district is world's tallest Murugan Statue and world's fourth largest statue of Hindu deities.[1] This is 146-feet tall and managed by Salem MuthuMalai Murugan Trust.[2][3] It is located at PuthiraGoundamPalayam village in Salem-Attur Highway in Salem district of Tamil Nadu.[4]

History

In 2014, insipired by Batu Caves Murugan Statue, bussinessman and chairman of Salem MuthuMalai Murugan Trust N Sridhar, decided to build a temple and Statue in his land. It was sculpted by the famous sculptor Tiruvarur Thiyagarajan, who constructed the 140-feet tall Batu Caves Murugan Statue. On Kumbhabhishekham day, rose petals were showered from helicopter.[1][5]
