Pokémon Scarlet and Violet

Pokémon Scarlet[lower-alpha 1] and Pokémon Violet[lower-alpha 2] are upcoming 2022 role-playing video games developed by Game Freak and published by Nintendo and The Pokémon Company for the Nintendo Switch. Announced in February 2022, they are the first installments in the ninth generation of the Pokémon video game series and are set to release in late 2022.

Gameplay

Scarlet and Violet are set to have open worlds which include urban areas and open wilderness without borders between the two.[1][2] The games introduce three new starter Pokémon: Sprigatito, Fuecoco, and Quaxly.[2][3]

Release

The games were announced as part of a Pokémon Presents presentation on 27 February 2022, through a partially live-action trailer.[1][4]
