Philip Jones (producer)
Philip Stuart Jones (1927–2004) was a radio and television producer. He worked for Radio Luxembourg and then the independent, regional television networks Tyne Tees, ABC and Thames. At ABC, he was initially responsible for Thank Your Lucky Stars and rose to become Head of Light Entertainment.[1]

Early life
He was born in 1927 in Cheltenham and his father was a teacher at Cheltenham Grammar School, where he was educated. He did National Service in the Royal Air Force from 1946 to 1948 and then started his media career at Radio Luxembourg as programme assistant, working on its magazine 208 and the show Quiz Time. In 1953, he left to start his career in television, freelancing initially and then joining Granada in 1956 as a trainee.[2]
Thank Your Lucky Stars
Jones was the producer of ATV's Thank Your Lucky Stars. He booked The Beatles to appear on the show on 19 January 1963, shortly after the release of "Please Please Me". The show was broadcast during a snowstorm and so had an unusually high teenage audience in the total audience of about six million viewers and this helped break the record.[3][4][5]
