Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State for Safeguarding
The Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State for Safeguarding (also known as Minister for Safeguarding) is a junior role in the British Home Office. It is currently held by Rachel Maclean MP who took office in September 2021, succeeding Victoria Atkins.[1]

Responsibilities
The minister has the following responsibilities:
- modern slavery and the national referral mechanism
- domestic abuse
- violence against women and girls including female genital mutilation (FGM) and forced marriage
- early youth intervention on serious violence
- Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS)
- victims rights
- child sexual abuse and exploitation
- Independent Inquiry into Child Sexual Abuse
- Gangmasters and Labour Abuse Authority
- sexual violence including the rape review
- anti-social behaviour
- prostitution
- stalking
- online internet safety/WeProtect
- victims of terrorism
- Security Industry Authority
- safeguarding and DBS checks for COVID volunteers and community groups
