Oshere of Hwicce

Oshere was a king of Hwicce possibly jointly with his presumed brother Osric, and (perhaps after Osric) with Æthelmod, Æthelheard, Æthelweard, Æthelberht, and Æthelric.

He appears to have issued a charter in 680.[1]

He was still reigning in 693, when he issued a charter to Abbess Cuthswith,[2] witnessed by his sons Æthelheard, Æthelweard, Æthelberht, and Æthelric. Ecgbuth who was a Benedictine nun who is possibly his sister. She laments his death in a letter to Boniface in 717 and that her "sister" Wehtburh is imprisoned in Rome.[3]
