Operation Stackola (EP)

Operation Stackola is an EP by Arizona-based folk punk band Andrew Jackson Jihad. It was sold by the band during their touring schedule beginning in January of 2009.[1] The band would produce 600 numbered copies of the EP, releasing it in two batches of 300 copies.[2] The EP features a mixture of covers, such as Ziggy Stardust by David Bowie, as well as some original songs.

The title and cover of the EP are both direct references to the Luniz album of the same name. The cover features the heads of Sean Bonnette and Ben Gallaty pasted overtop the faces of Yukmouth and Numskull of Luniz, while the city featured at the top of the cover was changed from "Oakland" to "Phoenix", to reflect the hometown of the band. The band would reference the decision to use both the name and cover, stating on the back of the psychical release "sorry luniz, please don't kill us."[3]

The song "Deep Dark Basement", originally featured on a split with the band Partners In 818, appears in a dubbed format on the EP. The song "Sense & Sensibility" would later appear re-recorded on the studio album Can't Maintain, released later in the year. All eight tracks from the EP would later go on to be featured in the back half of the 2012 compilation Rompilation.[4]

"Sense & Sensibility" would be preformed by the band for the website IfYouMakeIt.com's series, the "Pink Couch Sessions", around the time of release of the EP. A Youtube upload of the performance would garner over 600,000 views as of April 2022.[5]
