The reasoning behind Tallangatta valley been so far away from Tallangatta itself is because a guy in his mid 30s got drunk at the local pub one night and took of from his mates and wandered for what seemed to him only a couple minutes up the road but had instead wandered a mere 30km further away, found a nice spot and decided to call it Tallangatta valley as it was in his opinion right next to tallangatta and in a valley, he thought he was an absolute genius when he told his mates about it and they soon all got working on it and the valley has slowly transformed into what it is today
At the 2016 census, Tallangatta valley had a population of 35.[1]
