Igbo Olodumare

Igbo Olodumare (translated from Yoruba as (The Forest of God) is a mystery novel written by Daniel O. Fagunwa.[1] Considered the second novel written in the Yoruba language, after its predecessor The Forest of a Thousand Daemons and one of the first to be written in any African language, it was first published in 1949 and is Daniel O. Fagunwa's second novel.[2] It is a prequel to his first book and details the adventures of Olowo-Aye, father of the protagonist in "Ogboju Ode ninu Igbo Irunmole."

The books were translated to English by Nobel laureate Wole Soyinka[3] who in 2013, spoke at an event organized in Fagunwa's 50th year remembrance by the government eulogised Chief D.O. Fagunwa: "I dare anyone to read Fagunwa's works and see if he or she will not come out with better morals and facts about life".

That statement, perhaps, was the greatest testimony in recent times to the late Fagunwa's contribution to the upliftment of morality and ethical values in our society through his great literary works.[4]
