Nippara cave
Nippara Shōnyūdō (Japanese: 日原鍾乳洞, lit. 'Nippara limestone cave') is located 1052 Nippara, Okutama, Nishitama District, Tokyo, and is a limestone cave。 Amount distance is 1270m and altitude 134m from the depths to the ceiling. And it has registered Natural monument in Tokyo, the cave's scale equals Ryūkokudō which is famous as utmost scale in Kanto region. The cave was flourished as Sacred mountains at the time. At present it is famous as tourist site. The cave is opened throughout almost the year excluding between 30 December and 3 January.

Outline
In the cave, there are stratums in Paleozoic era and the temperature keeps eleven degrees throughout the year. Above all, Shingū Dō reaches 527 meters for the depth and is utmost scale in this caves. There are many Stalagmite and Stalactite, they are named 金剛杖 - Kongōzue by people who practiced Shugendō in Edo era.[1]

As of 2020, the cave is operated by Nippara Hoshōkai and it costs fees for entering the cave.

Business hours
- open between 9a.m. and 5p.m. in between 1 April and 30 November
- open between 9a.m. and 4:30 p.m. in between 1 December and 31 March
Transportation
- It takes about 30 minutes to travel from Okutama Station(JR EastŌme Line) by Nishi Tokyo Bus, and the cave is close to Nippara Shōnyūdō bus stop, but the bus stop are not stopped at by the route bus on holidays. So, on holidays, you must get off Higashi-Nippara bus stop which is located prior to two bus stops from Nippara Shōnyūdō, it takes about 20 minutes from the bus stop to here on foot.
- The Tokyo Metropolitan Route 204 is passed through around the cave, but its road is very narrow and has a lot of curves, besides there are often the falling rocks.
