Plot

The film begins with the college student and drug addict Karthik stabbing a professor with a knife on a college campus. Karthik is therefore arrested. However, the professor survived the assault, and the court acquits Karthik of the crime, considering that he is a college student. Karthik, who is from a wealthy family, is also a misogynist.

In the past, Karthik lived happily with his father Muthusamy, mother Rajeshwari and elder brother Chandrasekharan. Chandrasekharan had a marriage arranged with Chithra, who was more educated than him, and she later gave birth to Lakshmi. Chithra tired of living in a traditional joint family, and the couple left the home with their child to live elsewhere. Chithra was still unhappy about being a housewife. One day, her childhood friend Amit met her and got closer to her. They even had an affair. When Chandrasekharan discovers their affair, he forcefully takes his wife's thaali around her neck and expelled her from his house. Afterward, Chithra filed a complaint to the police station against Chandrasekharan and Muthusamy. At the police station, Chithra and Chandrasekharan got divorced, and Chithra won the custody of her child. This embarrassed their family. Rajeshwari then died of a heart attack, Chandrasekharan became mentally ill, and Karthik became a misogynist and a drug addict.

Back to the present, Karthik has a car accident, and Seetha saves him by giving him her blood. Seetha is none other than Lakshmi's school teacher. Karthik then becomes a good person and falls under the spell of Seetha. In the meantime, Chithra commits suicide because she was ill-treated by society for her extramarital affair. Karthik finally expresses his love for Seetha, and she tells him about her bitter past.

In the past, Kalyana Sundaram was a kindhearted pickpocket who put money aside to build a school for poor children. Kalyana Sundaram and Seetha fell in love with each other, and she helped him financially build his school. The day before the school opening ceremony, Seetha's father, who was against their love, sent goons to kill Kalyana Sundaram, who was heavily wounded in the process. At the school opening ceremony, Kalyana Sundaram attended the function but died of wounds at the end of the ceremony.

Back to the present, Seetha tells Karthik that she cannot forget Kalyana Sundaram and can never fall in love with another man. Karthik, who is saddened by her past, genuinely accepts his fate and realizes that hating all the women because of one woman's mistake was foolish.
