Nicolás Galvis

Nicolás Galvis Llano (born 9 April 1997) is a professional soccer player who plays as a midfielder for League1 Ontario club Guelph United. Born in Colombia and raised in Canada, he has previously accepted call-ups to the Canada national team. He has played football in Colombia, Canada and Uruguay.[2]

Early and personal life

Galvis was born in Bogotá, Colombia and lived with his family in Manizales until the age of seven, when they moved to St. Catharines, Canada.[3]

Club career

Galvis played youth football for Once Caldas between the ages of five and seven, and with St. Catharines Concord from the age of seven.[3] In April 2013 he and two teammates (including Adam Bouchard) left Oakville SC to sign for Uruguayan club Defensor Sporting.[4]

He spent 2014 with Burlington SC,[5] before playing college soccer in 2015 with the Niagara Purple Eagles.[6]

He has played senior football in Uruguay for Canadian SC and in Colombia for Deportivo Pereira.[1]

On 26 February 2019, Galvis signed with Canadian Premier League side Valour FC.[7]

On 4 June 2021, Galvis signed with League1 Ontario side Guelph United.[8]

International career

He was called up by the Canadian senior team in June 2017.[3]

He was named to Canada's provisional 40-man roster for the 2017 Gold Cup, but was ultimately not called up for the tournament.[9]
