Nishapur County
Nishapur County or officially Romanized as Neyshabur County (Persian: شهرستان نیشابور, Šahrestâne Neyšhâbur) is a county in Razavi Khorasan Province, Iran. The capital city of this county is the city of Nishapur which is the second largest city in the province and the third largest city in Eastern Iran. According to a census conducted in 2011 by the government of Iran, its population was 433,104 which included 118,214 households.[2]

The county of Nishapur comprises the following three districts (Bakhshs): the Central District, the Sarvelayat District, and the Miyan Jolgeh District. The cities of Nishapur, Chekneh, and Bar are within the boundaries of these districts.
The two counties of Firuzeh and Zeberkhan were previously a part (Bakhsh) of this county though now they have become independent counties.
Nishapur massacre by the Mongols
The Nishapur massacre by the Mongols took place at Nishapur in the April of 1221. The Mongol armies of Genghis Khan massacred the entire population of the area, which some estimates put it at 1,747,000 citizens.[3]
