Namma Veetu Ponnu

Namma Veetu Ponnu (transl. The girl from our house) is a 2021 Indian television comedy dramatic series which premiered on Star Vijay and stream on Disney+ Hotstar. It marks the director debut of Praveen Bennett and produced by Global Villagers. It is the remake of Khorkuto which aires on Star Jalsha.[1][2]

Premise

It is a family drama revolving around a girl, Meenakshi, who crosses paths with a scientist, 'Karthik' who belongs to a middle-class joint family, and everything changes. Apart from a love story, ‘Namma Veetu Ponnu’ narrates the tale of a joint family, its roots, and beliefs.

Plot

The story starts with Karthik who belongs to a joint family and had a disciplined life. Meenakshi, on the other hand, is a happy-go-lucky girl. She doesn't have any interest in studying and doesn't mind at all. Her dad, who shares a good bond with Karthik's family, gets his daughter married to Karthik. The family is up for a roller coaster ride as their Marumagal makes an entry into their household. Where Meenakshi, who always follows her heart, falls in love with the family members. Meenakshi's emotional and fun-filled bonding with her in-laws added a freshness to the story.[3]
