NATO Tailored Forward Presence

NATO Tailored Forward Presence (TFP) was agreed at the 2016 Warsaw summit,[1] together with the NATO Enhanced Forward Presence.[2] These are, respectively, the eastern flank and northeast flank of the Alliance.[3][4][5][6][7]

History

In summer 2017 the Bucharest TDF headquarters became operational.[8]

In March 2018 Exercise DACIAN LANCER 18 took place, and served as the Final Capability certification for the TFP effort.[8]

Canadian deployment with TFP began in September 2019 and ended in December that year. The Canadians contributed six CF-188 Hornet to patrol near Romania and Bulgaria.[9]
