History

The small castle was ceded to the Crusaders in 1109 by Toghtekin, atabeg of Damascus, along with Gibelacar Castle, then it became part of the County of Tripoli.[1] In 1165/66, the castle was occupied by Nur ad-Din and the garrison was massacred.[2] In 1176, Count Raymond III recaptured the castle and surrounding region.[3][4]

Today almost no remains of the castle have survived.
