Mestizo Colombians
Mestizo Colombians refers to Colombians who are of European (mostly Spaniard) and Amerindian ancestry.

According to a genetic research published in 2014, Mestizo Colombians genetic admixture is 60% European, 29% native Amerindian and 11% Subsaharan African.[1]
Multiethnic relationships in Colombia began shortly after the establishment of the first settlers in the territory. It is a direct result of the shortage of women in some sectors of the kingdom during the Spanish annexation. During the early colonial period most European contribution was on the paternal side.
Numbers and distribution
The 2018 Census reported that 87% of the population do not consider part of some the recognised ethnic groups, being mostly Mestizos and Whites.[2] According to external sources, Mestizos are the main racial group in Colombia, making up between 49% and 58% of country's population.[3][4]
The various ethnic groups exist in differing distributions throughout the nation, in a pattern that to some extent goes back to colonial origins. Mestizo Colombians are found throughout the country, mainly in Andean Region and Eastern Plains.
