Mark Mitchell
Mark Rhys Mitchell (born 29 March 1997) is an industrial designer who works in lighting design, furniture design, product design and interior design. His work runs contrary to the harshness of industrialisation, instead carrying a sense of fantasy, poetry and romance.[1]
Career
Mitchell was born in Cambridge, United Kingdom, but spent most his early years growing up in Derbyshire surrounded by the world's first factories such as Cromford and Lombe's Mill, facilities that are considered the birthplace of the Industrial Revolution. His Design career started early at age 17 when a London homewares brand bought the manufacturing rights to a bird box that he designed for a school project. Mark then studied at Brunel University and developed new products for Unilever, Canon and Bosch as well as exhibiting a study into the application of Phase Change Materials within furniture cushions at London Design Festival in partnership with Rado and DesignJunction.[2] In his placement year he travelled out to China to work directly in the factories to better understand the equipment used in mass production. Upon graduation, Mark would return to China for another 2 years producing consumer products, retail experiences and brands.
In 2020 Mark launched his own brand producing high end art objects for art galleries and homes.
