Madhuja Mukherjee

Madhuja Mukherjee (or Mukhopadhyay) is an Indian film scholar, inter-media artist, and filmmaker. She is a professor in the Department of Film Studies at Jadavpur University.[1]

Early life and education

Madhuja had studied literature and cinema at Jadavpur University. She also has formal training in sitar and fine arts. Before joining in films, she also has worked as journalist, TV program director, until she focused on academic research and completed her Ph.D in 2008.[2][3]

Career

Madhuja is a professor in the Film Studies Department at Jadavpur University, Kolkata.[1] She conducts research into Indian cinema, including history and culture.[1]

She is also an inter-media artist, and her exhibitions include Silent Forms: Revisiting Silent Cinema of India in 2013 at Studio 21.[4][5] She founded TENT (Theatre for Experiments in New Technologies).[6]

As a filmmaker, her work includes Carnival (2012),[7][8] Ratan Bai vs. New Theatres (2019),[9] and Deep6 (2021).[10][11][12]
