Maragheh Khanate
The Maragheh Khanate was a 18th–20th-century khanate based in Maragheh. The khanate is known as one of the khanates located in historic Azerbaijan, which became for more than a hundred years semi-independent from Iran. The ruling Muqaddam dynasty's origins are unclear, but it is known that they had migrated from the Caucasus in the late 18th century.[1]

The administration of the khanate was similar to the Qajar administration. For 5 generations the Muqaddams managed to have significant autonomy from the central government.[1]
After the abolition of the khanate in 1925 by Reza Shah, the members of the dynasty were expelled. They went into exile in Azerbaijan and Turkey. The descendants of the dynasty now live in various countries, and take the surnames Mükeddem, Mükeddem-Marağayi, Etimadi-Mükeddam and others.[2]
