List of Brazilian states by area

There are 26 states of Brazil, (Portuguese: estados) which are the federal states of Brazil, plus the Federal District (Portuguese: Distrito Federal) which contains the capital city, Brasília. Below are these states listed in order of the area, from Amazonas with the greatest area, to the Federal District with the least. Brazil has a total area of 8,515,767 km2 (3,287,956 sq mi), and is ranked 5th in the world.
