Gameplay
The game is played by a team of two contestants. In a preliminary round, the team must answer a series of questions in 60 seconds, earning five "lives" for each correct answer. Every question asked has a numerical answer.[1]
In the main game, the team must use a dial to enter guesses to numerical questions on the "limitless ladder", trying to get as close to the answer without going over. Each guess brings the team a corresponding number of steps up the ladder, which is marked with cash values every ten steps. A life is deducted for each number they are off from the correct answer, and the team will lose the game if they go over, run out of lives or fail to answer a question correctly within the 60 seconds.[1][2]
Providing the exact answer banks the cash value that the team reaches, giving them the ability to quit the game with that prize; the ladder does not have a maximum value.[1]
Reception
Micheal Hogan of The Telegraph called this show ‘the best game show since Who Wants to Be a Millionaire’. The format felt "genuinely groundbreaking" in a "crowded" market for game shows.[2] |url=https://www.telegraph.co.uk/tv/2022/01/08/ant-decs-limitless-win-best-game-show-since-wants-millionaire/ |access-date=2022-04-30 |issn=0307-1235}}</ref>
Viewership
The series premiered to over 6.3 million viewers, making it ITV's highest-rated non-scripted series premiere since The Masked Singer. The series averaged 4.7 million viewers making it the highest rating game show of 2022 so far.[1]
