Leon Lederman (chess player)

Leon Lederman (Hebrew: לאון לדרמן; born 25 May 1947) is an Israeli chess International master (IM) (1976).

Biography

From 1971 Leon Lederman emigrated to Israel. He graduated from Ben-Gurion University and settled in Kiryat Gat and worked as a teacher at the school.

From the mid-1970s to the mid-1980s, Leon Lederman was one of Israel's leading chess players. He was multiple participant in Israeli Chess Championships and various international chess tournaments. In 1976, Leon Lederman was awarded the FIDE International Master (IM) title.

  • In 1977, at fourth board in the 6th European Team Chess Championship preliminaries (+3, =2, -1),
  • In 1983, at eighth board in the 8th European Team Chess Championship preliminaries (+1, =1, -1).

Leon Lederman played for Israel in the European Team Chess Championship:[3]

  • In 1980, at eighth board in the 7th European Team Chess Championship in Skara (+1, =2, -2).

In 2010s Leon Lederman participated in World Senior Chess Championships and European Senior Chess Championships.
