History

In the post-independence period, the now renowned Kurigram Government Women's College[3] was established with the tireless efforts of eminent educationists of Kurigram to spread women's education in the then Kurigram subdivision. The first meeting was held on 12 December 1983 at the Kurigram General Library at the invitation of Advocate Aman Ullah Ahmed with a firm resolve to establish a women's college in the heart of Kurigram town.

The meeting was presided over by the then Sub-Divisional Administrator Mr. Md. Matiar Rahman. The happy journey of the college started in the center of the city in 1983 as per the decision of the meeting due to the dedicated efforts of all. The college was later nationalized in 1984 considering its size and standard of education. As a government college, the college has been steadily moving towards success since its nationalization.
