Kolkata–Varanasi Expressway
Kolkata–Varanasi Expressway is a 610.417 km (379.296 mi) planned and upcoming green field access controlled expressway in Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Jharkhand and West Bengal.[1][2] The expressway will be part of Bharatmala Pariyojana. It will connect Kolkata with Varanasi and Ranchi.

This greenfield expressway under Bharatmala Pariyojna Phase 2 will run parallel to National Highway NH-2 (old) and link Varanasi Ring Road (near Barhuli village) to NH-16, near Uluberia, Howrah District, West Bengal.
Land acquisition process started in January 2022 for a 80 km section (Tilouthu – Imamganj) in Bihar.
History
The Government of India has given special emphasis on infrastructure development in the financial year 2022–23. In the 2022 General Budget, a new expressway from Varanasi to Kolkata was announced under the Bharatmala project.[3]
