On 13 February 2014, O'Brien ruptured his anterior cruciate ligament while playing for DIT in the Sigerson Cup, which would sideline him for the rest of the 2014 season. Currently in the final year of his Business and Management Course in DIT, O'Brien has stated in recent interviews that he hopes to pursue a career in retail, concentrating mainly on Gaelic Sport Merchandise. Kevin now works for Salesforce.[1]
