Political career

He was first elected to Ryedale District Council in 2015 aged 20. Two years later he also became the youngest member of North Yorkshire County Council in a landslide victory over the Liberal Democrats.[2]

He stood for re-election 2019, retaining his seat and becoming Leader of Ryedale District Council.[3] At the age of 24, this made him the youngest council leader in the country.[4]

During his term, Conservative councillors stated their opposition to fracking and called for a moratorium in Ryedale.[5][6] He supports a plan to create two new unitary authorities for York and North Yorkshire.[7]
