Jayanth Sharma

Jayanth Sharma is an Indian wildlife photographer.[1][2][3] He is also a writer who wrote for travel & photography on various websites such as The Asian Age,[4] Outlook India[5] and Deccan Chronicle.[6]

Early life and career

Sharma was born on 6 May 1980 in Mysore to Nagaraja Sharma, a Historian and photographer. Sharma learned photography from his father. Prior to entering photography, Sharma worked in the Information Technology field.[7][1]

In 2010, Sharma founded "Toehold", a photography and travel company that provides mentorship by some of the world’s photographers.[8][9][10]

Sharma has photographed in Africa, Antarctica, Norway, and India.[1][11]

In 2018, Sharma partnered with Amazon India to take online photography classes under the program named "Shutterbug".[12]

Awards

Sharma has won several wildlife photography awards on national & international level, including:

  • 2018: DJ Memorial photography award, under the 'Wildlife' category.[13]
  • 2016: Windland Smith Rice Awards, Nature's Best Photography[14]
  • 2014: Joint GPU Gold medal, Global Arctic Awards[15]
