India–Nepal cross border railways

India–Nepal cross border railway is a rail service between India and Nepal. Currently only one line is operational under cross border railway.

Background

Joint Working Group (JWG) of two countries India and Nepal has discussed and signed agreement to start of passenger train services between two countries. Under Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), already passenger train services started on the Jaynagar-Kurtha section. Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for Final Location Survey (FLS) of the proposed broad gauge railway line between Raxaul and Kathmandu has been done. Both sides also agreed to expedite the work on completion of the 18.6-km long Jogbani-Biratnagar rail link. [1] [2] [3] [4]
