Henry Racamier

Henry Racamier (1912-2003) was a French business executive who turned Louis Vuitton from a small luxury goods brand into an internationally recognized brand with billions of dollars in international sales.[1] In 1943 he wed Odile Vuitton, a great-granddaughter of the founder and a major shareholder of Louis Vuitton. He was the co-founder of LMVH the company which arose of the luggage company's merger with the champagne house Moet & Chandon. This new concern was originally founded to provide both previously independent companies protection from a potential outside hostile takeover. He then went on to be director of the new firm.[2][3]

Racamier was also a noted sponsor of international sailing competitions and in 2019 was posthumously inducted into the America's Cup Hall of Fame.[4][5]
