Gurmeet Singh Meet Hayer

Gurmeet Singh Meet Hayer is a member of the Punjab Legislative Assembly from Barnala constituency. He is a cabinet minister in Punjab. He won the 2017 legislative election on Aam Aadmi Party by defeating Congress candidate Kewal Singh Dhillon.[1] He is a cabinet minister in the Mann ministry, in charge of the Department of School Education, Department of Sports and Youth Services and Department of Higher Education and Languages.[2][3]

He is currently serving as youth wing incharge of Aam Aadmi Party in Punjab.[4]

Member of Legislative Assembly

Hayer was elected as the MLA in the 2022 Punjab Legislative Assembly election. He represented the Barnala Assembly Constituency in the Punjab Legislative Assembly. He took oath as a cabinet minister along with nine other MLAs on 19 March at Guru Nanak Dev auditorium of Punjab Raj Bhavan in Chandigarh.[5][6]

As a cabinet minister in the Mann ministry, Hayer was given the charge of three departments of the Punjab Government:[7]

  1. Department of School Education
  2. Department of Sports and Youth Services
  3. Department of Higher Education and Languages
