Early life and education

Grover Cleveland Robinson IV was born in Pensacola, Florida on February 11, 1970.[1] He was the son of lawyer, real estate agent and politician, Grover C. Robinson III, who founded the commercial realty firm Grover Robinson & Associates and represented the 3rd district in the Florida House of Representatives from 1972 to 1986.[2] Tragedy struck the family in 1989 when Robinson's 15-year-old sister, Lowrey Robinson, was killed in an automobile accident near Greenville, Alabama.[3] Robinson's parents, Grover C. Robinson III and Sandra Lowrey Robinson, died in a helicopter crash while vacationing in New Zealand on March 28, 2000.[4] The pilot was former New Zealand skiing champion, Janey Blair.[5]

Political career

Robinson became the commissioner to Escambia County district 4 in 2006. His term ended in 2018.[6] Robinson became mayor of Pensacola on November 27, 2018, after a runoff election with his opponent, city councilman Brian Spencer, and has held the office since.[7] On March 29, 2021, Robinson announced he would not be seeking a 3rd term for the 2022 Pensacola Mayoral Election.[8]
