The first series, comprising the films Dead Simple and Looking Good Dead, was adapted for television by acclaimed screenwriter Russell Lewis. It was filmed in Brighton and Hove, and other locations in and around East Sussex,[3] during 2020, for broadcast in 2021.[4] Dead Simple, broadcast in March 2021, attracted an estimated 7.2m viewers, which made it the fifth-most-watched programme for the week of 8–14 March, according to BARB.[5]
In May 2021, Grace was commissioned for a second series. Filming started in September 2021 in the West Sussex town Burgess Hill. It adapted the novels Not Dead Enough, Dead Man's Footsteps and Dead Tomorrow. [6]
Broadcast of series two commenced in the UK on 24 April 2022, with Looking Good Dead, which was shown in the United States nearly a year earlier as the second episode of the first series but opened a four-week run billed as the second series on ITV.[7]
