Gombe State University

Gombe State University (GSU) is located in Tudun Wada Shamaki ward Gombe State, Nigeria. It is a member of the Association of Commonwealth Universities.[1] The state University has a Chancellor and 11 members of Governing council, principals and management staff. Professor Abdullah Mahadi was the first vice - Chancellor of the Gombe State University.[2]

Historical Background

Gombe state University was setup by Governor Muhammed Danjuma Goje in 2003. The ministry of education created a 35 members committee of stakeholders, who report to the state executive council to establish a state own University. The state executive council approved the constitution of 24 members technical planing committee to see the affairs of the University at that time.[2] The University has been conscious of the continuing manpower needs of the state government and the people. The University produce highly skilled graduates in different academic fields to enable them engage in productive political, economy and social activities of the society.[3][4]
