Glass of Lemonade
Glass of Lemonade (Dutch: Het glas limonade) is a painting by the Dutch Gerard ter Borch, created around 1664[1] (canvas ), size 67.2×54 cm. Part of the State Hermitage collection of paintings (St. Petersburg), where it entered in 1815 as part of the collection of Empress Josephine. The painting is exhibited in Room 249 New Hermitage.[2] A replica of the painting (some researchers consider it an authorial repetition; another version is that it is a copy made by someone other than Terborch) is held in the private collection of Peter and Olga Dresmann. "Glass of Lemonade" is a work characteristic of Terborch's late oeuvre, turning from simple genre scenes to depicting the private life of the wealthy bourgeoisie, intimate domestic scenes. One of the first examples of Dutch domestic scenes revealing an internal psychological connection between the characters.
