Georgios Magiras

Georgios Simos or Charalampous[1] (Greek: Γιώργος "Mάγειρας" Σίμος ή Χαραλάμπους; 1919 – 1994), commonly known as "Magiras" (Which ment "Cooker", a nickname that followed him throughout his career, on the occasion of the fact that his grandfather maintained a cooking restaurant in Naxos), was a Greece international footballer who played as a midfielder for AEK Athens and helped the club win their first domestic double in 1939.

Career

Born in Urla, İzmir, Mageiras moved to Greece to play for AEK Athens, where he was part of the club that won the Panhellenic Championship and Greek Cup in 1939.[2]

Mageiras made four appearances for the Greece national football team from 1948 to 1949. He made his debut in a friendly against Turkey on 23 April 1948.[3]
