George W. Witherspoon
George W. Witherspoon was a politician in Florida. He campaigned for a seat in the U.S. Congress in 1880 and won the Republican Party nomination over Malachi Martin but lost the general election to a Democrat whose majority was attributed to fraud. In 1882 he won a seat in the Florida House of Representatives from Jefferson County, Florida.[1]
He lost election to the U.S. Congress from the 1st District to Robert H. M. Davidson in 1880.
