Gathering of the spiritual
The Gathering of the spiritual or the Council of Wise Men (also called Civata Ruhanî or Meclisa Ruhanî) is a council made up of Yazidi dignitaries that deals with the religious and secular affairs of the Yazidis.[1][2][3][4]
Members
The Yazidi Council consists of 10 permanent members:
- The Mir (Prince of Sheikhan), current Mir is Hazim Tahsin Said Beg
- The Baba Sheikh, current Baba Sheikh is Sheikh Ali Ilyas
- The Sheikh Wezir
- The Peshimam of the Principality
- The Peshimam of Baba Sheikh
- The Naqib
- The Baba Gavan (Guardian of the Sanctuaries)
- The leader of the Qewals
- The Baba Çawish
- The gatekeeper guarding the entrance to Sheikh Adi's physical resting place
Meetings
The meetings are traditionally held in Lalish. All Yazidi leading clerics from Sheikhan, some Yazidi tribal leaders and some Yazidi village elders also occasionally attend the meetings.[5]
