Garand Kalan (Gariend Kallan)
Gariend Kallan is a village in Budgam district situated in Jammu and Kashmir, India. It is only 8 km (5.0 mi) from Budgam and 13 km (8.1 mi) from Srinagar. It is bordered by Wahabpora, Garandkhurd, Chattabug, Soibug and Wadwan.
Gariend Kallan falls under the administrative division of tehsil Budgam. Budgam is both district & sub-district headquarter of the village. The total geographical area of village is 360 hectares. The literacy rate of the village is about 65%. There are Seven mohallas in Gariend kalan i.e Astan Mohalla, Wani mohalla, Ganie mohalla, khan mohalla, zawar mohalla, gund mohalla. Transport facility is also available from Gariend kalan to budgam. Government of india has always neglected areas of budgam district. There are two Government middles schools one primary. And Two private instiutions. I.e imam e sajad school and Flower kids public school.
It is the village with the a huge percentage of Shias muslim in district budgam. Imam Jaffar Sadiq(a.s) library is present in the village. Many Majlis and festivals are celebrated here like as Nauroz, Ashoora, Sham-i-Ghareban, Eid-ul-Fitr, Eid-ul-Azha, Eid-i-Ghadeer, Shab-e-Meraj etc.
This village is connected through telecom services to all entire world. Airtel, Bsnl, , Voda, and Reliance Jio are the main telecom service providers in this area.
Garind kalan is connected through roads via Budgam, Magam, Bemina, Srinagar and Beerwah.
There is a Jamia Masjid in the village on the name first irani supreme leader # Ruhollah Musavi Khomeini(r.a). Villagers here are mainly following the tradition of Iran. Youth of village are following the way of Iranian Genral Qasim Soleimani . They got highly influenced by Qasim solumeni when he was martyred in a targeted American drone strike on 3 January 2020 in Baghdad, Iraq. All the walls of streets of village are decorated by the picture of Qasim Soleimani. Soleimani chowk is famous chowk in the village in the memory of Qasim Soleimani.
