History

Fractal Design was founded in Gothenburg, Sweden, in 2007. In 2009, international recognition for the company grew after the first computer case within the Define series was introduced. In the same year, the company opened a North America office in Dallas, Texas.[4] A few months later, an Asia office was established to handle increased Product Development and Sales.

By the end of 2016, the company continued to develop the concepts of Scandinavian design, silent computing and support of powerful computer configurations by launching new computer cases under the Define series.[5]

In 2020, Fractal products are available in more than 50 countries. Fractal remains one of the world's premier brands when it comes to designing and manufacturing cases, fans, power supplies and accessories for gaming- and hardware enthusiasts with high expectations.

In other respects, revisions 2 through 5 are similar to the Arc series, apart from lacking top filters.

  • Revision 6 features a full-length PSU shroud, top filters, and a new HDD/SSD cradle design.
  • Revision 7 features a new ventilation grate pattern, and a third intake fan mount in the 5.25" bay.
  • Revision 7 is marketed as the "Define 7", whereas previous revisions would be called "R5", "R6", etc.

"Budget" cases of rudimentary construction that maintain some HDD/SSD mounting flexibility, and support for all-in-one liquid cooling solutions.
  • x000, x100, and x300 designs use a vertical HDD/SSD mounting plate for improved airflow.
  • x500 and "Focus" models use "traditional" horizontal HDD/SSD mounts inside moveable "cages".
  • With exception of the "500", "1000", and "Focus" models, the series suffers from poor intake airflow, a problem common amongst cases with solid front panels.
