Everstone Group

Everstone Group is a Singapore-based, India-focused private equity firm.[2][3] The group's primary focus is in the business service, financial service, healthcare, information technology service, and manufacturing sectors.[4] It was founded by Sameer Sain and Atul Kapoor in 2006.[5] The firm has offices in London, New York City, and Mauritius, besides India and Singapore.

History

The origin of the group can be traced back to Future Capital, a financial services firm that was established by Sameer Sain in partnership with India's Future Group in 2006.[6] Sain took over Future Capital's private equity business in 2009. Eventually, he teamed up with Atul Kapur, a former Goldman Sachs colleague, and formed Everstone Capital.[7] The company is headquartered in Singapore.[5]

Investments

  • In 2012, Everstone picked up a 35% stake in publishing house S. Chand Group for $38 million.[8]
  • In 2014, the group along with US-based Solmark invested $66 million in Servion Global Solutions.[9]
  • In 2015, Everstone Capital became a major investor in Sohan Lal Commodity Management.[10]
  • In 2017, the group invested $35 million in OmniActive Health Technologies.[11]
  • In 2019, Everstone Capital bought a controlling stake in Sahyadri Hospital, a hospital chain in the Indian state of Maharashtra.[12][13]
  • In January 2020, the group announced that it would invest $50 million in the US-based Slayback Pharma to buy a minority stake.[14][15][16]  
  • In August 2020, Everstone Capital along with Goldman Sachs invested in QMetry Inc., a continuous testing platform company.[17]
  • In August 2020, the group along with Goldman Sachs invested in US-based Infostretch.[18][19]
  • In December 2020, Everstone Capital acquired controlling stake in India-based Calibre Chemicals.[20][21][22]
  • In November 2021, Everstone signed a master franchise agreement with American fast food restaurant Subway to operate outlets in India and Bangladesh.[23]

Partnerships

Everstone Capital partnered with the American real estate investment firm, Realterm Group to create IndoSpace Logistic Parks.[24][25] In 2017, the Canada Pension Plan Investment Board and IndoSpace, formed a joint venture called IndoSpace Core to develop modern logistic facilities in India.[26] In 2018, the Singapore-based logistics facilities provider, GLP partnered with IndoSpace to enter the Indian market.[27]

In a joint venture with the global solar project developer, Lightsource BP, Everstone has formed EverSource Capital.[28][29] The venture manages funds to focus on renewable energy, distribution infrastructure and green energy services in the country.[30]

Everstone is the master franchisee for Burger King in India and Indonesia, and Domino’s Pizza in Indonesia.[23]
