Environmental impact of spaceflight
The environmental impact of spaceflight is under active research. In general, the impact includes: air pollution, light pollution, space debris, and interplanetary contamination. Even though the emissions by all the rockets are not significant, the trend will increase over time. Certain rocket exhausts such as soot, alumina, and water vapor may disrupt the mesosphere, stratosphere and ionosphere. Satellite constellations may disrupt astronomy as telescopes are taking long-exposure images.[1]
