Emmanuel Oscar Ameyedowo

Emmanuel Oscar Ameyedowo is a Ghanaian politician and a Board Chairman Ambassador of the National Lottery Authority (NLA) of Ghana. He served as a member of the first parliament of the fourth republic of Ghana for South Tongu in the Volta Region of Ghana.[1][2]

Career

Emmanuel Oscar Ameyedowo is a former member of parliament for the South Tongu from January 1993 to January 1997. He is also a board chairman and a member of the Vetting Committee.[3][4]

Politics

Emmanuel Oscar Ameyedowo was elected during the 1992 Ghanaian parliamentary election on the ticket of the National Democratic Congress as first parliament of the fourth republic of Ghana. The seat was taken by Godfried K. Agama of the United National Convention (UNC) in the 1979_Ghanaian_parliamentary_election. Oscar Ameyedowo lost the seat in 1996 Ghanaian general election to Kenneth Dzirasah of the National Democratic Congress. He won the South Tongu seat with 22,254 votes out of the 26,942 valid votes cast, gaining 72.10% out of 100% over his opponents Kuma Abenyega an Independent who polled 4,235 votes which represented 13.70% of the share, Francis Seko Ahoegba of the Convention People's Party (CPP) who polled 258 votes which represented 0.80% of the share and Paul Kofi Hormeku of the People's National Convention (PNC) who polled 195 votes which represented 0.60% of the share.[5][6][7][8]

In 2016, there was a False Report About the National Lottery Authority (NLA) reporting that all is not well in respect of the management of the affairs of the Authority. He indicated after that : ''We wish to state unequivocally that such speculations are unfounded and untrue and that they are attempts by some detractors, who wish to paint the management of the Authority black''.[3][9]

In 2019, the National Democratic Congress party put in place three committees, Oscar Ameyedowo was part of the members attributed to the Vetting Committee.[4]
