Deepak Kalal

Deepak Vasant Kalal (born 1972) is an Indian comedian and travel vlogger from Pune, Maharashtra. In 2011 his video titled "Modiji me aapko pappi dunga" became viral.[1] He became an internet sensation in 2018 after Bollywood actress Rakhi Sawant announced she was marrying him.[2] Deepak Kalal is also popular on the internet for his cross gender humour videos.[1]

Career

Deepak Kalal started his career as a travelling vlogger and started making funny videos of his own in 2017, mostly on Kashmir.[3] He became viral on the internet after CarryMinati made a roast video of his videos.[4] In 2018, he became an internet sensation after Bollywood celebrity Rakhi Sawant announced her marriage to Deepak Kalal, which was later clarified as a spoof wedding.[5] Deepak Kalal also appeared in India's Got Talent (season 8).

Controversies

In 2018, Deepak Kalal was beaten by a man on 15th of January in Gurugram and told him not make videos anymore.[6] This incident was livestreamed on YouTube.[7][8] Two days after the above incident, Deepak Kalal was again beaten at Delhi Metro.[9]

Personal life

Deepak Kalal was born into a middle-class family in Pune, Maharashtra. After completing his class 10th education, he worked as a receptionist at a hotel in Pune. He also did a short management course at Bandra College.[10]
