Craig Jacobs
Craig Jacobs was an American stage manager known most notably on Broadway and for his work as the longtime production stage manager of Phantom of the Opera.[1]
Career
Craig Jacobs' Broadway career began in 1974 with Good News, and he subsequently became the stage manager of choice for some of the theatre's top directors: Bob Fosse (the original Chicago, Sweet Charity), Arthur Laurents (Gypsy), and Hal Prince (Cabaret, Show Boat, Phantom of the Opera).[2]
As a trusted stage manager, Jacobs worked on some of Broadway's most memorable musicals. These included Gypsy, both 1989 and 2008, Falsettos, My Fair Lady, and Grease.[1]
Jacobs was also known as a mentor to stage managers, mentoring a generation of stage managers on Broadway.[2]
Death
Jacobs died November 22, 2021.[1] The lights of the Majestic Theatre were dimmed on December 6, 2021, at 7:25PM EDT for one minute in his honor.[2]
